About the Team

There are a lot of activities that happen in our stores so we have a strong cross-functional team focused on doing Anything for Pets by supporting the store teams through effective communications, processes and initiatives. The Store Strategy & Operations department leads the way to support all store activities and define business-driving strategies. The Workforce, Insights & Planning team owns labor optimization and reporting needs. The Operations & Innovation team owns merchandise execution, process improvement, compliance, store technology and innovation. And the Strategy team leads all the business-driving efforts for Salon, PetsHotel, Pet Training and In-store customer experience. These teams work diligently to ensure our associates, pets and pet parents are supported, while operating efficiently to drive the business.


About the Location

Collaborative Work Environment:
At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). About the Job

PetsHotel and Training are a critical portion of PetSmart’s business as we help to transform pet’s lives. Our training teaches positive reinforcement to improve dogs’ behavior while also creating the bond between dog and pet-parent! PetsHotel and DDC are a critical aspect of our business helping to provide a needed solution for pet-parents and driving value to total box.  The Sr. Manager of PetsHotel and Training is responsible for growing revenue, optimizing costs, and creating a long-term road map of success for hotel and training. Responsibilities include managing key initiatives focused on creating disproportionate sales growth. The Sr. Manager will also be responsible for developing talent to help continue to grow the operations organization.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as subject matter expert and business owner for hotel and training. Oversees key initiatives focused on creating disproportionate sales growth.Responsible for PetsHotel and Training P&L, monitoring data and performance trends to identify and consistently improve the business. Innovation, helping to identify whitespace within the services marketplace. Must have a keen eye on the trends and bringing forth opportunities to win.Drives partnership and collaboration with internal partners within PHO and the field inclusive but not limited to operations process, analytics, execution, labor, marketing and more. Helps to drive the strategic vision of the operational strategy for PetsHotel and Training, looking for opportunities to connect business needs with operational excellence in partnership with the operations team.Key leader within strategy and innovation; focused on developing talent within the organization and driving accountability within the pack.Broad level vision of the hotel and training team—able to flex to high-level strategic details to tactical marketing details of the business. Role will expand with cross department projects as needed to help the broader team innovate and change the hotel and training businesses to meet business demand in a timely fashion to be first to market.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in retail, business, or related field highly preferred. 7-10 years’ experience in business strategy, project management, relevant field experience, or merchandising or marketing.

SKILLS 

Ideal candidates will be strategic, customer focused, highly analytical, and have a proven track record of identifying opportunities to driving sales, margin, and market share.Ability to develop and maintain analytical frameworks, dashboards, and KPI tracking tools to monitor business performance and identify growth opportunities.Track record of translating complex datasets into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.Executive presence and ability to influence up and across required (including with Field Leadership & Operations Leadership)Highly strategic, able to be flexible with broad long-range planning but be able to also flex into the details. Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Highly proficient in business and financial acumen to be able to size and deliver highly thought-out strategies. Highly collaborative across departments and field functionsPassion and ability to interpret data which translates into actionable insights.Must be able to devise creative solutions, produce measurable results, and clearly understand risks and contingency planning.Must be detail oriented & skilled in project management. Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred from a 4-year college or university.
