This position is responsible for leading and supervising maintenance technicians that work multiple shifts. Must assure the maintenance activities are executed efficiently and effectively, and that appropriate corrective and improvement actions are taken when necessary. Key responsibilities involve planning and executing maintenance operations in full compliance with HSE and GMP standards and regulations. The scope of this role covers the maintenance of utilities equipment related to clean utilities, electrical energy infrastructure, HVAC, and wastewater treatment plant.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide leadership on maintenance area ensuring high level of safety, quality, and productivity. Supervise maintenance activities for Lilly direct reports and contract resources. Manage and monitor the performance of Maintenance Technicians. Ensure the team is adequately staffed and receives appropriate training.Conduct performance reviews. Oversee the development of organizational structure and shift coverage as well as related personnel management. Monitors that maintenance activities (planned and unplanned) are executed in compliance with HSE standards and guidelines. Ensure that all maintenance activities consistently conform to applicable GMP standards across every phase, including preparation, execution, spare parts utilization, return to service, and associated documentation, while maintaining compliance with quality and data integrity requirements. Exercises Stop Work Authority and initiates appropriate escalation procedures as required. Reduce the number of outstanding work orders and implement strategies to sustain a low backlog.Ensures alignment of maintenance practices across shifts, facilitates shift handover and, in partnership with Process or Reliability engineers, captures and spreads best practices and lessons learned.Maintain consistency across shifts by actively engaging on the shop floor, conducting Gemba walks, and evaluating practice against procedure.Develop, monitor, and propose solutions to improve or meet key maintenance performance indicators (KPI) such as work order execution, safety, quality, maintenance costs, and productivity, as well as the continuous improvement agenda. Monitors budget and maintenance expenditure within the organization.Collaborate with operations staff to gain insight into customer requirements and challenges related to current equipment or systems. Proactively identify obstacles and ensure timely communication to the appropriate management level.Develop, monitor, and communicate Maintenance initiatives/objectives to customers.In partnership with Process/Reliability Engineers, develops a plan to increase the equipment reliability and improve maintenance plan effectiveness. Support the development, review and approval of equipment/systems maintenance documents and strategies.Support or lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve equipment problems using different problem-solving techniques.Identify and drive improvement opportunities (procedural changes, upgrades, projects, etc.) associated with the maintenance processes.Ensure the team is following requirements in applicable Global Quality Standards, Global Engineering Standards, and Health and Safety & Environmental Process Safety.Develop business relationships with internal and external clients and suppliers.Basic Requirements:
BS Engineering (preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, etc.).Minimum 5 years of engineering, reliability or maintenance experience. Experience and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). At least three years of experience in bulk pharmaceutical operations and/or utilities maintenance is preferred.Clear demonstration of leadership skills. At least 2-4 years of supervisory or manager experience preferred.Understanding of basic requirements of regulatory agencies such as the FDA, EMEA, and OSHA, or other similar groupsExperience with problem-solving methodologies, reliability maintenance strategies, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques, preferred.Additional Skills/Preferences:
Documentation, deviation and change management systems (e.g., Trackwise. Veeva QualityDocs, Kneat)CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems) experience desired.Continuous improvement methodologies and mindset – lean, six sigma, etc.Ability to manage multiple projects/activities and prioritize work based on business needs.Good organization, interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others.Ability to work across boundaries with equipment suppliers, contract engineering suppliers, and other Lilly organizations.Ability to influence across distinct functions, within engineering and operations.Available to work or provide support to a 24/7 operation. Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$93,750 - $137,500Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
