A leading global institutional asset management firm is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Sr. Manager / Controller (DOE) to join its hedge fund accounting team. This role is based in San Francisco and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a firm managing approximately $40 billion in assets across multi-strategy and specialized hedge funds
Position Overview
The Sr. Manager / Controller will play a critical leadership role in overseeing fund accounting processes, managing a high-performing team, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. Reporting directly to the Global Controller, this individual will collaborate across departments including Tax, Legal, Operations, and Investor Relations, and will serve as a key liaison to senior leadership.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with deep expertise in hedge fund structures (both share class and partnership), strong proficiency in Advent Geneva, and a passion for continuous improvement through digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and review monthly NAV closing packages and unaudited financial statements; oversee year-end audits and disclosures.
+ Manage investor profit and loss allocations and performance reporting in line with fund agreements.
+ Support Investor Relations and Performance Analytics teams with specialized reporting and inquiries.
+ Oversee third-party administrator deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate investor statements and transparency reports.
+ Prepare and review regulatory filings (e.g., BEA, CIMA) in coordination with Compliance.
+ Coordinate global annual audit processes with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
+ Review valuation models for private equity and debt investments in hedge fund portfolios.
+ Drive modernization and optimization of accounting processes and systems.

Requirements
Qualifications
+ Minimum 15 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in hedge fund or asset management.
+ Advanced proficiency in Advent Geneva.
+ Professional certification (CPA, CFA, or equivalent).
+ Strong mathematical and Excel skills (Power Query a plus).
+ Deep understanding of complex accounting rules and industry standards.
