The Senior Engineering Manager position supports our facility in Middletown, VA, which is a key part of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Clinical Diagnostics Division. Our business manufactures complex reagents, assays and system solutions fluids that are used in the global healthcare industry daily to diagnose patient health.

Lead a diverse and growing team as the Senior Engineering Manager. Use your experiences and knowledge to refine our approach to new equipment acquisition and deployment, manufacturing process improvement, problem solving and solutioning as well as leverage and scale our validation program. A strategic mindset with strong organizational skills are critical for success in this role.

A day in the Life:Manage day-to-day engineering activities and ensure projects progress on time.Mentor and develop engineers to achieve their fullest potential.Support manufacturing process development and capacity expansion as volumes grow.Assess and improve our validation approach to enable leverage across like products and processes.Lead the Systems Engineering group focused on mechanical engineering.Develop mechanical and systems engineering competencies within the team.Lead all aspects of team goals, performance evaluations, and talent acquisitionKeys to Success:

EducationBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, with a preference for Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.ExperienceMinimum 3 years experience managing engineering teams.15+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the medical device spaceStrong understanding of project and daily program management.Proven ability to develop and implement engineering solutions.Strong understanding of New Product Development (NPD) processes and challenges.Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesOutstanding leadership and mentoring abilities.Process Validation expertise in the Medical Device industry.Outstanding project management and organizational capabilities.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Six Sigma Variation Reduction experience a plusPhysical Requirements / Work Environment

This role requires the ability to work in a manufacturing environment, adhering strictly to safety protocols. Occasional lifting and physical activity may be required.
