What You'll Be Doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Capital Markets, OTC Derivatives Operations. Reporting to the Senior Director, Derivatives Operations, you will be accountable for all daily and periodic operational functions supporting Futures, Exchange Traded listed options and Precious Metals. You will play a key role providing supervisory oversight and support to other CIBC employees and third-party service providers on cash, position and trade reconciliations, collateral management, trade processing, data maintenance and escalation management. You will have accountability to ensure all support staff are adequately trained, procedural documentation is up-to-date, and effective controls are in place and measurable. In addition this role will lead and orchestrate process and system enhancements to ensure CIBC delivers world-class operational support. In so doing,  you will regularly engage with senior business partners across Front Office, Finance, Risk and Technology to support business growth and deliver best-in-class experiences to our customers.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. This is subject to business needs and there may be additional on-site days required.

How You’ll Succeed

You can demonstrate solid experience/exposure -  You will have 5 to 10 years of hands-on Capital Markets operations experience related to futures and options trade settlement and reconciliation activities. You will have an operating knowledge of clearing and exchange services such as the OCC and TMX. You will have practical experience with applications such as BPS, Gloss, IWS, SOLA, or similar account systems.Supervisory operation responsibilities – You will apply experience and judgment in leading and resolving issues promptly, including the identification of lessons learned.  You will ensure all daily tasks are completed under a controlled environment.  You will orchestrate required training. You will ensure all regulatory obligations are met. Coordinating multiple priorities - You will effectively lead strategic planning and project delivery.  You will constantly think about how to tighten operational controls and improve the client experience.  You will regularly demonstrate drive and ability to take the necessary measures to achieve your objectives.Build and manage an effective controlled environment – You will update procedures, define critical controls, audit and enforcement mechanisms. You will examine the impact on new business requirement  or regulatory obligations against existing technology designs and operational processes.Training and mentorship – You will provide cross training and guidance on all operational processes. You will adopt and share a mindset oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort. You will develop and deploy formal training packages when rolling out new controls.
