The **Sr. Manager, Data Engineering** is responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing data pipelines that support business intelligence and analytics across commercial functions. This role will focus on SQL-based data transformation, ensuring that data from enterprise data warehouses is structured, accessible, and ready for analysis in tools like Power BI as well as available for use by AI tools. The Sr. Manager, Data Engineering will work closely with IT, Analytics, and Commercial teams to enable efficient data workflows that drive business insights and operational efficiency.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Develop and maintain SQL-based data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from enterprise data warehouses. Work with IT to monitor and improve existing commercial data pipelines
+ Collaborate with IT to ensure data availability, integrity, and accuracy for business intelligence and analytics applications.
+ Optimize data structures and performance for commercial reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Looker.
+ Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Commercial Operations teams to understand data needs and deliver scalable solutions.
+ Manage and improve data access and governance, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the Data Governance team to facilitate efficient compliance processes are developed and executed.
+ Develop automated data pipelines to streamline reporting and enable self-service analytics.
+ Support data modeling efforts to enhance analytics capabilities for forecasting, segmentation, and pricing.
+ Identify and implement best practices for data management, warehousing, and analytics infrastructure.
+ Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, working proactively to resolve issues.
+ Act as a bridge between IT and business users, ensuring that data solutions align with commercial objectives.
+ This is a hybrid/remote role, depending on location and business needs.
+ Travel up to 20% may be required for business meetings, collaboration, and system implementations.
**Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in data engineering, SQL development, or data pipeline management, preferably in the medical device, medtech, or pharmaceutical industry.
+ Expertise in SQL and ETL tools for data transformation and warehouse management.
+ Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
+ Strong proficiency in Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
+ Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
+ Ability to work in cross-functional teams, translating business needs into technical solutions.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize data performance for analytics applications.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Familiarity with APIs and system integrations for data connectivity.
+ Knowledge of Python, R, or other scripting languages for data automation.
+ Experience in building scalable data infrastructure for commercial operations.

**The anticipated base pay range for this position is :**
US $120,000 - $207,000 / Bay Area $138,000 - $238,050
