Job Description:

Sun Life is seeking an experienced Sr. Linux System Engineer.

What will you do?

Analyze how new technology could benefit and fit in the existing setup, engineer roadmaps to integrate new technology into existing systemsPlan routine and complex changes system changes, including validation plans, and implement approved changesCreate/maintain support documents and update operations manuals, standard operating procedures, and life-cycle documentationWork either independently or with a team – provide troubleshooting and support for complex issues – provide solutions to maintain the stability, availability, and reliability of server environmentsWork within standards and guidelines for development and support of new solutionsWork with Enterprise Architecture team to ensure proper execution, business, and strategic alignment of solutionsWork with new technologies and transform legacy technology to leverage the cloud servicesConfigure, manage, maintain, and continuously improve server, application, and system performance, based on recommendationsParticipation in the on-call rotation for production support and after-hours implementations as required

What do you need to succeed?

Strong analytical and technical skill set, able to communicate and organize complex implementation changesAbility to perform under pressure in an enterprise production environmentAbility to multitask and manage deliverables for multiple projects in timely mannerExcellent documentation skillsExtensive experience in working with Red Hat and other Linux distributionsExperience utilizing and supporting compute and other services in Amazon Web ServicesSoftware development and/or scripting experience using PythonExperience with Infrastructure as Code tools and Azure DevOpsExperience building and maintaining Kubernetes / Docker container infrastructureStrong verbal and written communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to successfully work within a result driven team and organization

Requirements/Preferred Skills:

Minimum Current certification(s) - Linux Professional Institute LPIC-2 or Red Hat RHCEExperience with cloud services – Amazon Web Services preferredProficient in administration of servers running Red Hat and other Linux based distributionsExperience in administration of OpenShift clusters, Kubernetes and/or Docker containersProficient with scripting languages – Python preferredExperience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as HashiCorp Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormationExperience creating/maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, or alternatively AWS CodePipelineExperience with configuration management tools – Ansible preferred

Successful completion of a Computer Science degree, Technical Diploma, or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in an infrastructure production environment

Salary Range: $98,400 - $147,600

Your actual base salary will be determined based on your unique skills, qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location. In addition to your base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on your individual performance as well as the overall performance of the business.
