Sr. Layout Designer - Powertrain

Our people make us who we are, and we create incredible products and experiences that empower us to THINK OUTSIDE.** **Job Description: Powertrain Sr. Layout Designer** Within the Powertrain Engine design team, a layout designer prepares designs, layouts, assemblies and drawings according to engineering specifications using PTC Creo. The Layout designer is responsible for those designs and drawings from initial concepts all the way through to production. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Majority of time will be dedicated to creating and releasing 3D models, complex engine assemblies and detailed drawings within the CREO and Windchill environments. + Plans, organizes and coordinates own work as well as communicates through regular updates, + Ensures designs are meeting the safety, quality, reliability, development schedule, and cost goals set forth by the product planning group. + Works directly with vendors to drive design for manufacturability and cost-efficient designs + Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documents to verify ASME Y14.5 GD&T practices and adherence to company and/or industry standard practices + Analyzes design options, confers with necessary staff to resolve details not completely defined; or, generates design concepts with layouts indicating alternative designs and recommended solutions + Actively participates in a Powertrain Engine design, development or testing peer group + Provide mentoring to other CAD users of varied skill levels + Performs engineering calculations to support component design and engine-based decisions (i.e. air flow testing, shaking force analyses of engines) + Delegates, prioritizes and organizes work of other team members + Develops standardized design procedures for part, assembly and layout modeling + Solves design problems in a timely manner, may be called upon for leadership of problem-solving exercises + Conducts component level or sub-system level design reviews **SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE** + Two-year degree in mechanical drafting and design technology or equivalent + Minimum of 5-7 years design/drafting experience + Working Knowledge of GD&T per ANSI/ASME Y14.5 2009 or newer + Direct design experience with Engine components and systems; Powersports-related Engine and powertrains preferred + Experience with high feature and complex aluminum castings, using die-casting, sand casting, permanent mold casting processes, forging, and machined components + Extensive experience in complex assembly and component tolerance stacks + Proven track record and extensive experience with PTC Creo 3D Modeling and Windchill Database Management + Must show an aptitude for critical thinking and problem solving + Strong team player that has the ability to work cross functionally and communicate with system engineers and the project team to deliver model year based engine programs. + Strong ability to Multi-task and prioritize a large volume of tasks \#LI-CS99 **The starting pay range for Minnesota is $82,000 to $108,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
