Sr. industrial Engineer - Automation Projects

Marmon Holdings, Inc. (“Marmon”) is a $12 billion industrial conglomerate with over 200 industrial facilities in North America. Over the past 3 years, our Innovation and Automation team has led or assisted with factory and robotic automation projects at multiple facilities and had remarkable success. We’ve deployed dozens of new automation systems and pieces of factory equipment. We’re now in the process of scaling our team, process, and reach to execute or assist with dozens of projects per year; as a result, we’re looking for an Engineer and leader with extensive process, operations, and LEAN experience to join our factory automation team.

We’re a group of Engineers identifying blockers, building tools, and executing on projects in the factory automation and process improvement space. You’ll get exposure across all of our business segments to industry-leading executives, engineers, and factories.

This role will involve 30-60% travel. Join us at our mHUB-based location in Chicago or TX/RX Labs-based office in Houston for a hybrid work environment or “home-room” at one of our many business units that’s more local to you. Our work schedule is flexible, but in-office schedule of 3 days per week is expected when not traveling.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Automation Projects:

Lead the planning, design, and implementation of automation projects to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product qualityCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, IT, and R&D, to ensure seamless integration of automation solutionsEvaluate and select automation technologies; facilitate purchasing off-the-shelf or guide vendors in their design and build of equipmentBe hands-on with equipment for the purpose of running tests to understand technology capabilities and reduce project risk


Process Optimization:

Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvements; also facilitate the implementation of these process improvements, with or without new hardwareModel current state and multiple options for future state processes using value stream mappingConduct time and motion studies, data analysis, and process simulations to support various initiativesLead continuous improvement initiatives when appropriate to directly generate savings and prepare the business for capital investments


General:

Conduct cost-benefit analyses for proposed automation projects, including ROI calculations, to support investment decisions in alignment with Marmon 5-year payback guidelinesMentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and other team members on best practicesStay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in automation, attend trade shows and industry events as appropriate; share knowledge & insights with the team as applicable

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE

Preferred degree areas: mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, automation engineering, project management, and operations5-15 years of experience in operations, process engineering, LEAN, automation, and/or similar rolesComfortable in ambiguous situations where requirements may be unclearComfortable setting your own agenda to accomplish goals when neededComfortable working in factory environmentsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentKnowledge of LEAN principlesAbility to travel domestically 30-60% of the timeStrong organizational skillsMUST be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Pay Range:

100,000.00 - 150,000.00
