(Sr.) HR Manager, Business Partner

Reporting to [HR Director, Business Partner]

Working Location: [Shanghai]

As a strategic member of the HR Business Partner team, this role acts as a trusted advisor and thought drvier for business units. The HRBP partners closely with business leaders to diagnose organizational challenges, drive workforce planning, enable talent development, and help the organization achieve its long-term ambitions. The role blends deep HR and business acumen to deliver innovative solutions that advance AstraZeneca’s priorities and sustain high performance during transformation.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic HR Partnership

Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leaders, collaborating to shape and implement people strategies that drive business transformation and innovation.Influence and challenge the status quo to enable organizational agility, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.Lead HR initiatives with a holistic, solution-oriented approach, integrating broader enterprise goals and industry best practices.

Organizational Diagnostics

Proactively assess the organizational structure, culture, capabilities, and talent gaps, utilizing data-driven insight to inform strategic decisions.Lead workforce analytics and provide actionable recommendations that enhance organizational effectiveness and readiness for future business challenges.

Workforce Planning

Drive strategic workforce planning aligned with business objectives, ensuring the optimal deployment of talent and resources to meet evolving needs.Analyze trends in workforce composition and capability, advising leadership on proactive talent actions to support business growth and transformation.

Talent Development & Succession

Champion the design and execution of talent development strategies, fostering a high-performing and future-ready workforce.Partner with leaders to build robust talent pipelines, accelerate leadership capability, and ensure succession planning for key roles.Facilitate the identification, assessment, and deployment of high-potential talent across the business unit.

Project Leadership & Change Management

Deliver complex HR projects end-to-end within agreed scope, timeline, and budget, ensuring successful change management and stakeholder alignment.Communicate project objectives, progress, risks, and benefits transparently to all relevant stakeholders.

Employee Experience

Promote a culture of inclusion, recognition, and engagement, supporting continuous improvement in employee experience and organizational effectiveness.Apply insights and feedback to recommend improvements in HR processes and employee policies.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or above in Human Resources, Business, Management, or a related fieldExperience working in global, complex organizations, ideally within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sectorDemonstrated track record in delivering measurable organizational and business improvementProven expertise in workforce planning, organizational diagnostics, talent development, and project management
