About this RoleNorthStar Energy Services is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team in the Channelview, TX office. This role will support estimating efforts for industrial projects within the Oil & Gas midstream and downstream sectors, with a strong emphasis on mechanical and piping scopes, as well as civil and structural work.
The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls.
What You'll Do Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systemsPerform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft ExcelReview drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimatesCollaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategiesDevelop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposalsDevelop construction schedules in Microsoft ProjectAnalyze subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project scope and estimating standardsIdentify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunitiesSupport bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoff meetingsMaintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks What You'll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. OR 10 years experience in lieu of degree.10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction, with a strong focus on mechanical/piping scopesProven experience estimating midstream and downstream Oil & Gas projects (terminals, plants, pipelines, facilities)Strong working knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost driversAdvanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft ExcelAbility to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plansStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsExperience supporting EPC or design-build project delivery models, preferredMinimal travel for pre-bid site visits.
