Sr. Downstream Processing Technician
Downstream Processing Technician Job Description Join our team as a Downstream Processing Technician, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the manufacture of commercial and clinical biologics. You will adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and be involved in various downstream processes such as purification and filtration, including HPLC. This role requires hands-on experience with large-scale production bioreactors, chromatography, and the preparation of buffers and bulk reagents. Responsibilities + Review all area documents to ensure accuracy and compliance. + Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators, completing batch records per cGMPs. + Perform in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers. + Weigh, transfer, and mix chemicals as required. + Perform product filtrations and maintain clean and sterile conditions. + Clean and steam steel tanks (CIP/SIP) and prepare equipment for sterilization. + Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment including pumps and flow meters. + Keep department lead or manager informed of any issues. + Monitor and manage stocks of common lab supplies. + Respond to emergency notifications and perform other job duties as required. + Be available for flexible hours, including weekends. Essential Skills + Bachelor's Degree in Science (STEM-related field). + Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operation, production, or lab setting. + Proficiency in aseptic techniques and chemical concepts. + Experience working in a cGMP regulated environment is preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 6 months of experience in a GMP regulated environment and aseptic technique preferred. + Subject Matter Expert on downstream processing steps is a plus. + Experience with chromatography and HPLC is beneficial. Work Environment Work will be conducted in cleanroom/asceptic suites where adherence to gowning procedures is mandatory. The role involves a rotating 12-hour day shift schedule, working 7 days out of a 2-week period. Physical demands include standing for 80% of the shift and the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs independently. Gowning requirements include wearing a full suit, gloves, hair and beard nets, and safety glasses. The use of makeup, jewelry, nail polish, and scented products is prohibited. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, Missouri. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
