Position Summary

The Transformation Leader for the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD) will drive systemic transformation, continuous improvement, and productivity across the global business. This highly visible role is responsible for leading division-wide initiatives to enhance operational performance, strengthen business processes, and accelerate strategic execution.

Reporting directly to the CMD Division President, the Transformation Leader partners with functional and business leaders to identify and execute high-impact initiatives aligned with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System, enabling CMD to deliver sustained growth, margin expansion, and customer excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and TransformationTranslate business strategy into actionable operational and financial improvement initiatives with measurable outcomes.Leverage data analytics and AI to define and deploy the productivity and transformation roadmap for CMD.Lead cross-functional business transformation initiatives focused on driving simplification, scalability, and productivity across the division.Practical Process Improvement (PPI) EnablementChampion Thermo Fisher’s PPI Business System as a core enabler of operational excellence and cultural transformation.Drive consistency and alignment of CMD PPI initiatives with enterprise and group-level objectives.Productivity and Cost OptimizationLead the division’s productivity agenda to deliver sustained cost reduction and process efficiency improvements.Identify opportunities for productivity gains through end-to-end process reviews, automation, standardization, and digital tools.Partner with Finance to ensure transparency and tracking of productivity benefits to the P&L.Program Management and Change LeadershipManage a portfolio of high-impact projects from concept through execution, ensuring timely delivery and measurable results.Apply structured project management and change management principles to enable successful adoption of transformation initiatives.Communicate progress, outcomes, and lessons learned to senior leadership and key stakeholders.Culture and Capability BuildingFoster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and empowerment throughout CMD.Coach and inspire teams to challenge the status quo and pursue innovative ways of working.Develop future leaders with strong problem-solving, process-thinking, and change management capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred.10+ years of experience in operational excellence, business transformation, or productivity leadership within a global manufacturing or technology organization.Demonstrated success leading cross-functional productivity and transformation programs with measurable business impact.Demonstrated expertise and certification in lean principles. Black Belt or Master Black Belt in 6-Sigma preferred.Proven track record of influencing senior leadership and driving results across matrixed organizations.Experience applying data analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities to identify transformation opportunities. Experience in leveraging digital technology and AI to transform business processes.Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management abilities.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $192,700.00–$256,900.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
