What You’ll Be Doing 

As part of the Client Servicing and Client Account Management Technology Team, the Senior Director, Business Banking and Banking Centre Technology team will report into the VP with oversight and accountability for Application Solution Design & Development/Delivery for the client groups. With a strong focus on technology strategy, delivery approaches and business acumen, you’ll lead a team delivering technology changes and supporting requirements that align with both the Technology and Business mandates.

How You’ll Succeed 

IT Systems Management – Drive all technology solutions for the client groups.

Strategy and Leadership – Provide oversight and leadership of end to end technology solutions involving development, business analysis, QA, vendor relations, production support and development functions supporting the business to meet their objectives. Translate technology architecture and business process initiatives into actionable solutions and develop a strategic framework that addresses the business’ current technological and future needs, to support on-going growth and development of the business. 

Product Strategy and Development – Recruit and  lead a team of technology Subject Matter Experts on business processes, platforms, and strategic objectives in order to provide consultation on the technology products and services required to support the business’ growth plan. Prioritize portfolio of technology products and services to be launched with an eye on reducing risk, while still focusing on the growth of the business.  

Decision making – Conduct research to review emerging technologies and recommend the adoption of solutions that ensure the business can meet its dynamic objectives.  

Vendor management – Oversee the framework and direction for vendor relations strategy, proposing the adoption of technology solutions that focus on integration and simplification.  

People Leadership and Relationship Management -  Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training. Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance and by explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities. Create a positive work environment through being an effective role model and by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls, applying policies fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.  Hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements.  
 

Who You Are 

You can demonstrate 20+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, with a significant focus on enterprise architecture, digital transformation, and strategic technology planning including at least 10+ years managing large full stack software engineering team.  

You have experience in defining and executing comprehensive technology roadmaps and enterprise architectural strategies that align with organizational goals and drive digital transformation across the enterprise as well as leading the design, development, and implementation of complex, scalable, and secure enterprise solutions, with a strong focus on cloud-native architectures, and API development. 

You have extensive experience in cloud technologies, such as Azure & AWS, including cloud migration strategies and cloud-native application development as well as providing strategic guidance and leadership on cloud adoption, migration strategies, and the integration of emerging technologies such as AI/ML. 

You have proven expertise in REST APIs, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps). 

You have demonstrated success in leading and managing large development teams and multi-million dollar technology projects ($4M - $50M+ budgets). 

You have exceptional stakeholder management skills. You have ability to communicate, present and conduct executive-level workshops and influence C-suite decision-making. You can collaborate closely with C-suite executives and senior stakeholders to influence decision-making, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and ensure technology initiatives deliver tangible business value. 

You have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. 

You have strong people leadership skills. You have experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing , global development and solution design teams, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. 

You have experience overseeing the successful delivery of multi-million dollar technology projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards as well as establishing and enforcing enterprise architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
