Sr. Design Quality Engineer, Amazon Leo
Description Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. The Amazon Leo Quality team is driven to develop a Quality System that ensures design excellence while scaling aerospace quality to volume and cost levels to meet end customer needs. This position will join the team at an exciting moment, with an opportunity to own software and electronic hardware design quality process development and contribute to the design of requirements, processes, and systems used across the business. Key job responsibilities * Develop and lead Amazon Leo System, Hardware, and Software Design Quality Assurance activities, including design verification and validation methods, design qualification, design reviews, and configuration management capabilities. * Lead design review and configuration discussions, determining design best practices for complex or high-risk software and electronic hardware elements. * Lead the development and launch of multiple aspects of the Design Quality management processes across Amazon Leo. * Dive deep into root cause corrective action activities for design issues that impact Amazon Leo satellites. * Work directly with Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, and Supplier Quality teams to develop and qualify design verification methods for the Amazon Leo Production System. * Be a subject matter expert in design quality assurance for aerospace applications within the Amazon Leo Production System. A day in the life * Perform daily design issue resolution as the design Quality subject matter expert. * Investigate design issues to reduce defect rates and drive root cause corrective actions. * Partner with cross-functional groups to develop and qualify design processes, including for both software and complex electronic hardware. * Conduct rigorous Continuous Improvement activities to prevent recurrence of design non-conformances. * Perform audit activities to ensure compliance to design QMS requirements. * Develop and modify design flow diagrams, DFMEAs, design control plans, design verification plans, and other APQP artifacts to support continued high quality design. * Work within an AS9100 (or similar) certified quality system with focus on design controls. Basic Qualifications - Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production - 8+ years of experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures - 8+ years of experience in design quality assurance, with at least 5 years in aerospace, satellite, or telecommunications industries Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent - Experience with the project management of technical projects Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
