Job Description:
Data Analyst, Labor Category: SME
The Data Analyst will be responsible for designing and implementing processes related to analytics and analytical products utilizing predictive modeling, data mining, machine learning, graph analytics and research on a large scale, dealing with large complex data sets. This individual would also be responsible for planning, leading/collaboration with various internal and external teams, providing data science expertise, and providing periodic updates through presentations and prototype demonstrations. The role may require working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
Develop and plan required analytic projects in response to business needs.
Develop new repeatable predictive/analytical modeling methods and/or tools as required.
Work with business domain experts and application developers to identify data relevant for analysis.
Provide recommendations on predictive/analytical modeling products, services, protocols, and standards in support of project execution and client engagement.
Identify, diagnose and resolve predictive/analytical model performance issues.
Monitor predictive/analytical system performance and implement efficiency improvements.
Document and communicate the repeatable process and the scientific methods.
Train customers and staff members on the tools and models.
Skills Requirements:
Required Skills:
Degree in the field of computer science, statistics, or engineering.
Minimum of 3 years working with large data sets, preferably in Hadoop.
Expertise in applied statistics, including regression and machine learning models.
Able to translate business objectives into actionable analyses.
Able to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Expertise in at least one statistical software package.
Proficiency in SAS , R & PLSQL , SSAS, SSRS, Tableau type of tools along with their corollary data extraction, ingestion storage tools.
Minimum of 3 years working in large and medium project teams, as a contributing member in self-directed and team-player roles.
Strong understanding of predictive/analytical modeling techniques, theories, principles, and practices.
Specific experience in more than one of: machine learning, data mining, statistical modeling, graph modeling and other areas.
Intensive, recent experience in assessing data needs for specifics analysis projects.
Ability to conduct research into predictive/analytical modeling issues, practices, and products as required.
Desired Skills:
Experience designing predictive/analytical models and developing hypotheses.
Experience writing white papers.
Experience working with Hadoop & HDFS, Cloudera, R with RStudio/Shiny, ElasticSearch with Lucene, MongoDB, CouchDB, HBase, Hive, Apache Drill, Impala, Storm, Presto, Cassandra, Accumulo, Spark, Mahout, Rattle, Weka, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Knowledgeable in Python.
Team player in an Agile development environment.
Capability to work independently on assigned projects/tasks and present results to executives.
Education:
Candidate must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust.
Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with a minimum of 11 years of technical experience.
