This position will address the need for a full-time U.S. litigation attorney in the Global Litigation Team (GLT) to directly manage SAP litigation matters in the U.S. and to support the GLT in all other litigation matters as needed. This position reports to the Head of Global Litigation.

 

Responsibilities: Helping to manage assigned cases, including formation of litigation team/work stream assignments, formulation of litigation strategy, marshalling of internal facts, review and editing of written advocacy, preparation of outside counsel for oral argument and trial, and other related tasks relating to the representation of SAP. The responsibilities of the position include frequent and regular communication with outside counsel, with other SAP Legal attorneys, and with SAP employees and executives. Importantly, the position also involves handling pre-litigation disputes and providing proactive, strategic, and practical litigation counseling to SAP Legal and SAP’s business teams on various litigation-related topics (including indemnification, limitation of liability, confidentiality marking requirements, etc.) with a focus on minimizing external legal costs. 


WHAT YOU BRING


At least 5-7 years of work experience in litigation, including meaningful experience in antitrust, IP and commercial litigation. Significant responsibility in U.S. litigation matters preferred. A demonstrated ability to effectively and creatively direct the defense for a sophisticated client in complex litigation. Knowledge and understanding of litigation strategy/tactics. Law Degree from an accredited U.S. law school and actively licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. State. Outstanding academic credentials.  Highly-developed written and oral communication skills. Experience in software and database licensing and litigation preferred.


ABOUT THE TEAM


The litigation attorney will be one of six full-time attorneys in the Global Litigation Team, which also includes two full time paralegals/eDiscovery managers. The litigation attorney will have primary responsibility for handling and supporting assigned litigation matters, working closely with the Head of Global Litigation and other Team members

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 188,400 - 410,300 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
