The Senior Cost Accountant supports the organization’s operational and financial goals by delivering accurate product costing, insightful operational analysis, and timely financial reporting for the plant. Reporting to the Lead Cost Accountant, this role maintains standard costs, analyzes manufacturing performance, and supports month-end close while partnering closely with GSE operations to achieve financial KPIs and strategic objectives.
**YOUR IMPACT**
+ Perform product and standard cost analysis for manufactured products and finished goods; investigate and explain cost variances.
+ Support GSE operations in meeting financial KPIs through timely, data-driven analysis and actionable recommendations.
+ Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results; assist in forecasting and annual budgeting.
+ Review and reconcile material and inventory accounts; prepare adjustments for cycle counts, excess & obsolete (E&O) reserves, and physical inventory results.
+ Analyze complex financial data to identify risks, opportunities, and value-creation initiatives, present insights to management.
+ Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX controls, and company accounting policies.
+ Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
+ Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
+ Partner with plant and functional managers to explain budget variances and operational performance drivers.
+ Collect and analyze data for the annual Operations Review, Budget, and Mid-Year Forecast.
+ Participate in task force teams to enhance procedures, strengthen internal controls, and improve financial processes.
+ Develop and implement reporting tools and dashboards to increase cost transparency and operational insight.
+ Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives leveraging CIMS, Lean, or other process optimization methodologies.
+ Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
+ Four (4) or more years of related experience in accounting, finance, or treasury
**STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Familiarity with U.S. and international accounting regulations.
+ CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
+ Years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Experience in aerospace and defense industry
+ Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
+ Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or Infor Syteline)
+ Experience supporting SOX compliance and working with auditors
+ Advanced Excel and SQL proficiency; experience with Power BI or Tableau preferred
+ Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement principles

**Pay Range:**
$82,000.00 - $132,800.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
