Sr. Cost Accountant
Cost Accountant Job Description The Cost Accountant role demands strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills, with a minimum of four years of experience in cost accounting. The candidate should possess a good working knowledge of product costing, inventory management, variance analysis, and financial modeling. The ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment is essential, along with strong integrity and respect for others. Responsibilities + Responsible for product costing for all new and existing products. + Analyze cost variances, determine root causes, and prepare recommendations for improvement. + Analyze product and gross margin monthly actual results. + Establish material, labor, and overhead cost for quarterly bills of material analysis. + Assist in completing the annual gross margin budget. + Analyze inventory trends and develop reports to highlight and communicate significant changes. + Provide financial support to ensure accurate inventory records. + Assist with annual physical inventory and cycle count programs. + Responsible for capital budgeting and actuals reporting to operations. + Provide support on month-end closing and projects as assigned. + Reconcile inventory general ledger account balances accurately and timely. + Prepare month analyses and reports for Operations management as needed. + Identify areas for improvement within processes, make recommendations, and implement process improvements. + Comply with company policies, standard operating procedures, and Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 internal controls. + Collaborate with both internal and external audit teams. + Ensure compliance with SOX – interest. + Perform job duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). + During the initial months, responsibilities will include invoice coding through Avid, month-end journal entries, month-end reporting linked to both sequel and Great Planes, comparison reports, assisting with supplies inventory monthly, inventory reporting, and working closely with operations locally and the accounting team in Tampa. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in accounting. + Approximately 4 years of cost accounting experience. + Proficiency in accounting software. + Experience utilizing Excel with efficiency in V look up and Pivot table functions. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Master’s Degree in Business Administration is highly valued. + Active CPA certification is a plus. + Experience with Great Plains software. Work Environment This position starts as a contract role with the potential for conversion to full-time employment based on performance. The individual will work onsite 100% of the time with hours from 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, and anticipated overtime during month-end. The role involves close collaboration with the Plant Controller, the local operations team, and the accounting team based in Tampa. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
