We are seeking a **_Sr. Clinical Nurse_** to be a member of the multidisciplinary team that specializes in oncology nursing. They will be responsible for the coordination of care for the oncology patient from diagnosis to survivorship including end-of-life issues. They will work with the multidisciplinary team to plan and implement a plan of care for the oncology patient through clinical resources, being a patient advocate and an educator for the patient and family. The position reports to nursing leadership. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Coordinates clinical care of the patient with the other team members including physicians, social work, care management, and nursing. + Establishes a plan of care in conjunction with the physician and will include other disciplines as needed. + Will coordinate care across multiple departments including testing, education, and the day-to-day care of the patient. + Provide direct patient care based on the nursing process while mentoring others to promote quality and excellence of care. + Serves as a clinical expert resource for patients and their families. + Serves as a resource for other disciplines regarding patient issues in the day-to-day plan of care. + Ensures a high level of nursing care for the patient. + Establishes and implements policies and procedures for the specialty practice and patients. + Serves as a liaison between the patient /family and the multidisciplinary team. + Accountable for own decisions regarding patient care. + Analyzes patient care data to deliver and evaluate care. + Triage and review incoming phone messages, Epic inbasket and communications with doctors and/or patients as needed. + Knowledge of current health care environment. + Has direct patient care 85% of scheduled hours. **Knowledge, Skills & Competencies** + Working knowledge of Epic and Epic’s Beacon ordering system. + Ability to analyze data to synthesize and summarize information and make judgments regarding patient care. + Highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships that foster optimal quality patient care. + Ability to document legibly using a writing instrument. + Ability to use a computer keyboard to input and obtain data. + CPR and AED certified. + Ability to properly conduct general physiologic monitoring and patient care equipment such as an EKG. + Accountable authority for decisions regarding patient care. + Serves as a clinical expert resource to leadership and staff in the development and implementation of nursing standards consistent with the established model of care. + Maintains leadership competency by participation in continuing education, professional organizations, and other related activities. + Works collaboratively with clinical leadership and supportive resources to ensure that patients have access to comprehensive interdisciplinary patient and family educational programs throughout their care trajectory. **Minimum Qualifications** + Individual must be a registered nurse. + Licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing. + Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline required. + Require minimum of two years of related nursing experienced. + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
