The Retirement Plan Services Technology group builds and maintains the applications and platforms supporting Schwab’s retirement plan business, one of the leading providers of retirement plan services for medium to large-sized companies in the U.S. Our teams deliver high-quality solutions which enable employees of the companies we serve to create secure financial futures. As a Senior Software Engineer in Retirement Plan Services Technology, you will be a technical leader for your development team. You will work with your fellow team members to consistently produce high-quality output by providing guidance and support for all facets of software delivery, including design, development, testing, deployment, tooling, and support. You will serve as a strong, versatile hands-on technical lead to deliver solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Assist with design and develop software application systems mainly revolving around retirement plan administrationParticipate on an agile team of developers, testers, product owners and scrum mastersParticipate in discussions and engage other team members to flesh out system requirements where minimal information is providedDesign and build automated testsRelease applications to production environments on a regularly scheduled basisProvide production application support for applications that require 99% uptime What you have

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field10+ years of .NET design and development experienceDemonstrated expertise in object-oriented design, Microsoft SQL Server, SOAP and REST web services, CI/CDA strong knowledge of, and demonstrated expertise in, software design, development, testing, maintenance, and supportStrong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to build rapport with and influence team members, peers, and partnersExcellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex technical issues and solutions to peers and partnersExperience with Github and Copilot (or equivalent AI tools)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with building MCP servers and agentic workflows to automate internal SDLC tasks and enhance developer productivity.Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban)Experience with Test Driven Development and automated testing designExperience with the Atlassian suite of products (Confluence, JIRA, Bamboo)Familiarity with Cloud Platforms such as PCF, GCP, and AWSFinancial Services industry experience
