Shape the Future of Battery Technology in Devices Used by Millions
Do you want to architect the power behind the next generation of Amazon's most iconic consumer electronics?
Amazon Lab126 is seeking a Senior Hardware Electrical Engineer to join our Battery Management System (BMS) team—where you'll own the complete lifecycle of battery architecture that powers devices like Echo, Fire tablets, Kindle, and Alexa-enabled robots used by customers worldwide.
Your Impact:
As the technical owner of end-to-end BMS architecture, you'll drive innovation from the earliest concept phases through high-volume production. You'll translate real customer needs into cutting-edge electrical designs that balance runtime performance, safety, and cost—making critical decisions on IC component selection, circuit design, and firmware/software integration that directly impact millions of users' daily experiences.
What Makes This Role Unique:
This isn't just electrical design—it's solving complex, multidisciplinary challenges at the intersection of hardware, firmware, algorithms, and battery engineering. You'll partner with global teams across battery chemistry experts, silicon vendors, cell and pack vendors, and contract manufacturers to push the boundaries of what's possible in battery technology. From conducting failure analysis on field returns to creating hardware models for next-generation battery algorithms, you'll gain unparalleled breadth while deepening your expertise in battery management system.
Your Mission:
• Architect from scratch: Define BMS requirements and electrical designs for multiple products simultaneously, from early prototypes to mass production
• Ensure performance and safety: Conduct rigorous PCB reviews, DFMEA assessments, and testing to identify and eliminate potential hazards before they reach customers
• Solve real-world problems: Dive deep into NPI and field issues, perform root cause analysis, and apply lessons learned to prevent future failures
• Collaborate globally: Work with cell/pack vendors, silicon partners, and cross-functional teams spanning the US and China to deliver world-class battery solutions
Join a team of subject matter experts who are passionate about battery technology and committed to powering the devices that delight customers every day. If you thrive on technical challenges, love working across disciplines, and want your work to have tangible impact at global scale—this is your opportunity.
