Sr. Analyst, Pricing & Estimating

The purpose of the Sr. Analyst, Pricing & Estimating role is to provide strategic and consistent pricing guidance to Business Unit management on National and Local customer accounts by utilizing the Pricing Excellence tools and the development of accurate new and revised item estimates for the Corrugated Segment at WestRock. This role provides the following:

A control point for data accuracy in the estimating and order entry systemsAn accurate depiction of the products requested by customers and the material, manufacturing and service costs required to produce such productsA local pricing knowledge expertAnalytical pricing and standard cost profitability support for the Business Unit management teamThe determination, documentation, and communication of margin improvement opportunities


Responsibilities 

The Pre-Pricing Specialist is responsible for the following:

Manages and processes all requests for quotations (RFQ’s) in a timely basisIdentifies RFQ data omissions and discrepancies and requiring complete and corrected information from New Item Data SheetsCreates new item standard cost estimates and any required re-pricing of current items due to changes from original specifications / requirements in Kiwi ESP or changes in manufacturing processes from those that were assumed on an earlier quoteUtilizes the Pricing Excellence tools to develop and provide pricing guidance for the Business Unit management team to include: Pocket Price / UOMCost to Serve / UOMRebates & Discounts / UOMFreight / UOMTotal Invoiced Price / UOMEnters data documenting won items or changes to existing items into Local Business Operating SystemReviews National Account quote data as requested by the National Account Business AnalystsInterprets pricing analytical reportsProvides Pricing Excellence Development Manager quality process checksCreates monthly tracking reportsDefines, documents, and communicates margin improvement opportunitiesPossesses, or strives to possess, a complete and thorough understanding of all manufacturing processes, equipment and equipment limitations


Duties

The following is a list of regular duties performed by the Pre-Pricing Specialist position:

Managing e-mail and other methods for estimate and quote requests (RFQ)Providing necessary feedback on completeness and accuracy of RFQ request New Item Data Sheet / New Item Request SheetAuthority to stop quoting process for lack of necessary required informationManaging CAD and print card process for new or changed business as requiredSecuring Business Unit placement of business and machine routingObtaining tooling costs where requiredObtaining farm out costs as requiredCreating new item estimates or re-pricing estimates in individual  plant / business computer systemsReviewing output for accuracyCorrecting or adjusting estimates as requiredGenerating pricing guidance through the use of Pricing Excellence tools and provide to Business Unit management with documentationProviding a margin improvement opportunity report to Business Unit management on each bidSecuring final approved pricing from Business Unit management and ensuring compliance of proper approval authority as defined by DivisionPrinting and distributing quotations to approved Business Unit management for signatures.Electronically filing copies of signed quotationsProviding weekly estimation quality checks to Pricing Excellence Development ManagerInterpreting analytical reports on pricing and providing feedback on opportunities and issues to Business Unit managementPerforming other duties as assigned by the Pricing Department as part of process requirementsCompliance with Company policies on credit terms, rebates, and various service costs.

Education

4 year Bachelor degree preferred in one of the following fields:

Business AdministrationFinanceEconomicsIndustrial engineering or other math related discipline

Relevant work history will be strongly considered in lieu of the above desired degree

 

Experience 

Ideally, the candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years of corrugated customer service experience with responsibilities that included product cost estimation.  The candidate must have working knowledge of other department operations and production capabilities / limitations including but not limited to:
