Job Summary: 

Trane Technologies is seeking a Sr. Advanced Quality Planning Engineer to join our team at our Grand Rapids, MI location. This in-plant position requires the individual to be on-site to support New Product Development (NPD), Engineering to Order (ETO) projects and Design to Order (DTO). The Sr. Advanced Quality Engineer will be responsible for executing and optimizing quality management programs that assist internal staff, suppliers, customers, and partners in achieving company objectives related to cost, efficiency, and quality.

Position Responsibilities:

Serve as a core team member for New Product Development, Engineering to Order and Design to Order projects within the Grand Rapids Campus.

Support project teams during meetings and gate reviews by sharing the status of quality topics necessary for successful project launches throughout various phases.

Support Major Quality Disruptions investigations utilizing standard work tools such as Controlled Shipping, SCAR, and Warranty/MQD recovery process.

Performs advanced analysis (Quality Systems, DPPM, NCM) to determine trends along with proposed actions to drive performance improvement on new product launches and ongoing changes.

Collaborate with project teams and plant teams to resolve quality issues that arise during the prototype stage and early builds.

Participate in investigations during Early Launch Containment (ELC) and work closely with supplier quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and maintain high standards throughout the supply chain.

Support and deploy Manufacturing Readiness Tracker per BOS.

Ensure compliance with our ISO Quality System, meeting all deliverables for customers and regulatory bodies.

Skills and Competencies:

Deliver 100% on-time completion of five or more projects simultaneously.

Lead cross-functional teams through tasks independently.

Present project material confidently to Product/Portfolio PGTs and senior leadership teams.

Demonstrate competence and consistent performance on projects ranked at A/AA using the following tools and techniques:

Establish Quality Baselines and targets.

Assist in creating and maintaining DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans.

Conduct Initial Component Risk Assessment (CRA) for PPAP Levels.

Participate in component design and drawing reviews

Establish, track, manage, and report on PPAP.

Review supplier component gaging concepts

Develop, manage, and execute Early Launch Containment Plans.

Develop in-process measurement strategies, and gage development

Author and present quality information in IDR and Gate Reviews

New Product Development and Management of Change (AQP, PPAP, FMEA) applying Quality At the Source and poke-yoke methodologies

Problem solving techniques, process improvement tools, statistical and sampling techniques, SPC, process capability, traceability, control point. Proficient in contemporary QC and QA tools such as QMS, AQP, LSS, SPC, PPAP, etc.

Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean implementation, and Op Ex

Travel: 10-15%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field OR 8+ years of experience as AQE

Previous manufacturing experience is required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Experience in quality management, operations, lean manufacturing processes and visual management.

Working knowledge of tool design, Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing, and dimensional metrology

Excellent interpersonal skills, mentor, team player and builder

Professional in both customer and supplier interaction

Collaborative and Participative management style

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer

Experience with ISO Quality Systems and regulatory compliance.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

$97,406.66 - $135,834.99
