Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's team in Columbia, South Carolina. This role requires expertise in managing complex accounting functions across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills and a deep understanding of real estate or homebuilding accounting practices, although candidates from other industries are welcome. Responsibilities: • Lead and execute daily accounting tasks, ensuring accurate and timely financial data management. • Manage month-end close processes, including preparing financial statements and reconciling accounts. • Oversee accounting activities for multiple entities. • Handle costing calculations and analyses entities. • Administer revenue recognition processes for site contracting entities based on percentage completion. • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards. • Perform account reconciliations and bank reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy. • Support the development of entry-level accounting staff by providing guidance and leadership. • Collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to ensure accurate and timely processing. • Contribute to overall financial strategy by providing insights and recommendations based on accounting data. Requirements • Proven experience in managing month-end close processes and general ledger accounting. • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations. • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles, particularly percentage completion methods. • Familiarity with costing practices for development and construction-related projects. • Experience working with multiple entities and complex accounting structures. • Background in real estate or homebuilding accounting is highly preferred. • Ability to lead and mentor entry-level accounting staff, supporting their growth and development. • Excellent organizational and communication skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
