Description A growing firm in the building and development sector is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for an on-site role. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly proficient in job cost accounting, and committed to maintaining precise financial records. This position oversees key accounting processes, supports operational leadership, and ensures financial accuracy across multiple projects. Key Responsibilities: + Oversee accounts payable payment cycles and ensure timely, accurate vendor disbursements. + Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns and resolve related issues. + Lead and manage the month-end closing process. + Prepare, review, and approve general ledger entries. + Report monthly financial results to leadership teams. + Provide variance analysis and narrative explanations for financial fluctuations. + Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation. + Maintain fixed asset schedules and conduct periodic audits. + Perform detailed job cost analysis and maintain accurate project cost records. + Assist with inventory accounting, cycle counts, and year-end audit preparation. + Manage corporate credit card and expense reporting programs. Requirements Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred). + 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; experience in project-based or construction-related industries is a strong plus. + Expertise in job cost accounting and work-in-progress reporting. + Solid knowledge of GAAP and multi-jurisdictional tax requirements. + Advanced skills in accounting systems and Excel. + Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities. + Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
