Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's team in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s financial reporting needs. This position is vital to driving operational efficiency through detailed analysis, process improvement, and collaboration across departments. Responsibilities: • Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports. • Prepare and analyze financial statements in alignment with established accounting standards. • Ensure accurate revenue recognition, job cost accounting, and reporting for work-in-progress. • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and perform regular account reconciliations. • Support accounts payable and receivable processes by reviewing and approving payment batches and vendor statements. • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights for cost control and profitability improvements. • Collaborate with project managers to analyze job costs and review financial performance. • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including payroll, sales tax, and other filings, while supporting external audits. • Identify opportunities to enhance accounting policies, workflows, and internal controls. • Provide financial reports and documentation for leadership, auditors, and external stakeholders. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced certifications are a plus. • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a preference for experience in the construction industry. • Proficiency in accounting principles and accrual-based accounting. • Familiarity with Vista by Viewpoint or similar accounting software is advantageous. • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail. • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. • Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
