Description
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to oversee critical accounting functions, streamline processes, and ensure compliance across government contracting and manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for an individual who excels in maintaining financial accuracy, driving process improvements, and supporting audit readiness. Based fully onsite in Salt Lake City, Utah, this position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively while taking ownership of high-impact responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and perform all aspects of the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, and reconciliations.
• Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of balance sheets, encompassing cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, fixed assets, and prepaid accounts.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, ensuring financial records are complete and accurate.
• Maintain compliance with government contract standards, ensuring proper labor distribution, indirect rate calculations, and cost pool treatments.
• Review and support entries and allocation methodologies related to indirect costs for government contracts.
• Prepare and organize documentation required for contract-level reporting, drawdowns, and audits.
• Update and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance monthly close processes and compliance workflows.
• Collaborate with procurement, HR, and operations teams to ensure cost integrity and accurate coding.
• Prepare audit-ready schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for external and internal reviews.
Requirements
• Proven experience managing month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation and bank reconciliations.
• Familiarity with government contract accounting standards and regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare audit-ready documentation and support compliance efforts.
