Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's team. In this role, you will oversee key financial processes, including recording and analyzing financial transactions, preparing accurate reports, and maintaining compliance with established accounting standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations while collaborating with internal teams and external auditors. Responsibilities: • Prepare and record entries for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses by gathering and analyzing financial data. • Maintain and reconcile accounts by verifying transactions, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate postings. • Oversee and update fixed asset schedules to ensure accurate tracking and reporting. • Assist in creating detailed accounting reports for management, tribal entities, and government agencies. • Provide financial data and documentation to support external audits and regulatory reviews. • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of computer-based accounting and budgeting systems in compliance with industry standards and organizational policies. • Evaluate and improve financial procedures to enhance operational efficiency. • Ensure adherence to internal controls to safeguard financial processes and systems. • Supervise and guide the work of the accounting clerk, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Support the Accounting Supervisor and Controller with special projects and additional responsibilities as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field, demonstrating attention to detail. • Proficiency in month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations. • Strong understanding of general ledger management and financial reporting. • Experience with bank reconciliations and analyzing financial discrepancies. • Familiarity with accounting systems and tools, with the ability to adapt to new technologies. • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and compliance standards. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in financial processes. • Ability to effectively supervise and mentor team members.
