Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team in San Jose, California. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our organization's financial operations, with a focus on nonprofit accounting and compliance. The ideal candidate will thrive in a mission-driven environment and bring expertise in QuickBooks Online, payroll processing, and financial reporting. Responsibilities: • Manage daily accounting activities, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal postings. • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with precision and timeliness. • Process payroll on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly basis, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and organizational policies. • Maintain and reconcile QuickBooks Online for multiple programs and cost centers. • Prepare financial statements, grant tracking reports, and budget-to-actual analyses for leadership and board review. • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations. • Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to facilitate annual audits and 990 filings. • Partner with program teams to monitor budgets and ensure grant compliance. • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance financial efficiency and internal controls. Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting, with a strong focus on detail and accuracy. • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. • Strong understanding of general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations. • Experience with payroll processing and compliance with applicable laws. • Demonstrated ability to lead month-end and year-end close processes. • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and grant tracking requirements. • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills. • Effective communication and collaboration skills, especially when working with cross-functional teams.
