Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Santa Barbara, California. This role involves overseeing essential accounting processes, including job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial analysis and reporting, contributing valuable insights to support project and business decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and accurate application of incoming funds.
• Conduct daily bank reconciliations to maintain accuracy in financial transactions.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing reconciliations, schedules, and financial statements with a focus on job costing.
• Calculate and maintain commission schedules while ensuring compliance with sales tax provisions.
• Analyze and report on project costs, tracking variances and preparing detailed job cost reports for management.
• Collaborate with project managers to align job costs with project budgets and timelines, providing actionable insights.
• Monitor project budgets, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective measures to optimize profitability.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial data and improve accounting processes.
• Evaluate and enhance accounting workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a focus on job costing or project accounting.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and job costing methodologies.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
