Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Grand Rapids SE, Michigan. This role is integral to ensuring the accuracy of financial records, compliance with tax regulations, and the smooth operation of accounting processes. Responsibilities: • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and ensure compliance with quarterly bank requirements. • Support the month-end closing process by creating journal entries and analyzing accounts, including allocations for General and Administrative expenses and Food Service. • Conduct research on current accounting standards and implement new pronouncements effectively. • Complete corporate bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations with accuracy. • Assist in preparing income tax filings and reconciling related accounts. • Manage the tax abatement process, including renewals and compliance. • Collaborate on year-end audits and fulfill other compliance obligations. • Participate in finance-related projects to enhance departmental processes and efficiency. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred; prior experience in public accounting is advantageous. • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in accounting and tax, with expertise in financial statements and accounting principles. • Knowledge of accounting rules and the ability to research, apply, and document practices. • Proficiency in researching and ensuring compliance with state tax laws, as well as coordinating related requirements. • Strong problem-solving abilities to analyze issues and develop actionable conclusions. • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with cross-functional teams and external advisors. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel.
