Sr Usability Designer-Center of Excellence

**You are responsible for**
+ Work with other senior experts in the central Usability Excellence team to execute the Philips Usability strategy, and raise the bar for usability quality across BU’s
+ Provide ad-hoc senior support for businesses regarding processes and regulations (FDA, IEC 62366.1, EU-MDR, NMPA)
+ Be the first point of contact and escalation path for use related safety and quality concerns in Pune, safeguarding psychological safety.
+ Work directly with business leads in Pune to raise awareness, develop capabilities, and align on processes, RACI’s, and timely involvement of usability specialists.
+ Decide on changing scope or identify challenges and drive and initiate strategic roadmaps.
+ Stay on top of developments and insights regarding medical device regulations for all markets, and pro-actively advise teams and leadership on developing needs.
+ Help set the internal quality bar, define mechanisms and drive tactics to assess and hold underperforming teams accountable
+ Act as a temporary senior resource in case of crisis support for the businesses
+ Contribute to enterprise level narrative, and leverage opportunities to engage, and evangelize internally
+ Mentor more junior team members
**You are a part of**
The Usability Excellence team, rooted in Philips Innovation and Design, is the central hub that helps all businesses enterprise wide, to set the bar for usability quality and reach excellence.
The team consists of 10 experts, lead by the Head of Usability, that define usability strategy and roadmaps, set the standards, measure, train, and advise on which processes or ways of working to adopt.
Because of the direct link to patient safety and quality, the team works directly with clinical, risk management and Q&R teams, and escalates to senior management when appropriate.
**To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience**
+ A usability rockstar who is specialized in medical devices (preferred) or a similarly regulated safety-critical field;
+ Academic background in industrial design, product design or cognitive science/psychology with focus on Human-Computer Interaction or human factors;
+ At least 7 years progressive experience as usability specialist or related, with at least 3 years of experience managing stakeholders in complex environments
+ Expert knowledge of usability methodologies, processes and standards, particularly medical device regulatory standards (FDA, IEC 62366.1, EU-MDR);
+ Understanding of (academic) design of experiments and statistical analysis;
+ Experience in the end to end process of creation of products from requirements analysis to validation;
+ Great communication, collaboration and leadership skills to perform with multidisciplinary and international teams;
+ Great English proficiency in both talking and writing;
+ Pro-active mindset.

+ Understanding of Agile product development;
+ Understanding of the medical domain, hospital environments or specific
