As a Senior Manager (Level 59) within Retirement Plan Services (RPS) Tech Engineering, you will lead multiple software engineering teams to build performing, scalable systems and modernize our platform—driving operational excellence, reliability, and client impact.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

Influence, coach, and develop talent

Provide day‑to‑day coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development for direct reports; communicate clear objectives and goalsKnow your directs’ career aspirations; create individual development plans, ensure training opportunities; practice servant leadership

Manage budgets, risk, and resourcing

Forecast and manage project budgets and staffing across teams; exercise supervision over costs, methods, and staffingUnderstand and manage risk (key knowledge, attestation, access, change); take controlled risks when appropriate and learn from outcomes

Lead and deliver outcomes

Direct multiple teams of professional engineers to ship resilient, scalable software and APIs; own results across sub‑functions and continuously improve processesLaunch new projects, prioritize across portfolio and Technology Initiatives, and ensure every production change improves the product/platform; manage dependencies end‑to‑end

Own production and operational excellence

Ensure 24×7 support for your functional area; define, publish, and meet SLAsLead techlines and post‑incident follow‑ups; maintain clear understanding of your production footprint and upstream/downstream dependenciesPartner with SAvE teams and platform partners to ensure services are deployed, configured, sized, monitored, and documented appropriately

Raise the bar on engineering quality

Build a culture that challenges assumptions and seeks continuous improvementHold teams accountable for defect ratios, technical debt, standards adherence, and best practices; coach teams to produce elegant, maintainable designs and implementations

Partner across the enterprise

Collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders; influence decisions among peers and next‑level leaders; resolve conflicts with STS/Product leaders when outcomes are at riskAlign short‑ and mid‑term goals with long‑term org strategy; raise concerns when implementations diverge from strategic direction What you have Required Qualifications:Leadership & delivery scope: Manage multiple teams; independent decision‑making; talent management excellence; strategic alignment; cross‑functional influence.NET ecosystem expertise: C#/.NET (Core), ASP.NET, dependency injection, async patterns, secure coding, API design (REST/gRPC), performance & observabilityCloud architecture (private & public): Proven design/operation of distributed systems on private cloud and at least one public cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP): VPC/VNet, IAM, containers/Kubernetes, service mesh, messaging/streaming, secrets management, cost‑aware architecturesApplied AI in software delivery: Practical experience integrating AI into products/platforms (e.g., intelligent services, retrieval pipelines, model‑driven features) with strong grounding in data pipelines, model lifecycle, inference performance, and guardrailsDevOps/SRE & operational excellence: CI/CD, artifact/versioning, progressive delivery, infrastructure‑as‑code, monitoring/alerting (logs, metrics, traces), capacity planning, DR, resilience testing, incident/problem managementSecurity, compliance, and standards: Working knowledge of firm cloud security controls, identity/federation, secure development standards; ability to enforce standards and file findings where needed (e.g., eGRC)Preferred Qualifications:Architecture craftsmanship: Advanced fluency with Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture for large distributed systems; mentor teams on bounded contexts, aggregates, and dependency inversionVendor/offshore leadership: Effectiveness leading blended teams (FTE + offshore/vendor), establishing working agreements, and maintaining delivery quality and engagementFinancial domain context (RPS): Retirement recordkeeping/plan configuration/transaction processing; connect engineering choices to client outcomes and regulatory expectationsExecutive communication: Concise, data‑backed updates (dashboards, SLAs, quality/throughput trends) suitable for senior leadership and cross‑functional partners

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
