Job Title: Sr Systems Administrator



Job Location: Redstone Arsenal, Alabama



Eligibility/Clearance: Secret Clearance is required. This position

supports a government contract



Job Description:



We are seeking a Systems Administrator that will work within a cohesive

team environment and is responsible for the effective provisioning,

installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems

hardware and software and related infrastructure. This role is critical

for ensuring the continuous availability, performance, and security of

vital network infrastructure and associated systems supporting military

operations and personnel at Redstone Arsenal. The Systems Administrator

adheres to strict DOD and DISA guidelines, directives, and security

technical implementation guides (STIGs) to maintain a robust and

compliant network posture.



Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):



- System Monitoring and Health Checks:



- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and

availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key

processes.



- Review system and application logs, and verify completion of

scheduled jobs such as backups.



- Monitor system performance to determine current and potential

problems and propose system additions and enhancements to

improve migration.



- Monitor and report on the status of the network and system

devices.



- Maintain IT servers/systems operating at peak performance and

maintain accessibility for end-users.



- Troubleshooting and Incident Response:



- Provide support to clients in resolving moderate to complex

system or IT operation problems.



- Provide Tier III/other support per request from various

constituencies.



- Investigate and troubleshoot issues.



- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.



- Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.



- Provide remediation and troubleshooting for system-related

change requests.



- Security Compliance and Vulnerability Management:



- Support and maintain the Information Assurance (IA) requirements

of all systems.



- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible

intrusions.



- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.



- Work with the information security team.



- System Maintenance and Administration:



- Maintain all aspects of the Microsoft SCCM and Microsoft SCOM

Enterprise Management System to include Infrastructure,

Administrator and Operator consoles, Software/Hardware

Inventory, Software Distribution, Software/Hardware upgrades and

enhancements and monitoring and alerting.



- Manage UNIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows, VMware, and other

virtualized operating systems.



- Support and maintain the operating systems, patches, upgrades.



- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware,

peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage in

accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.



- Install and configure systems such as supports GIS

infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications.



- Configure / add new services as necessary.



- Maintain operation, configuration, or other procedures.



- Responsible for creating and deleting all

network/user/non-personal entity email accounts, password

management and administration.



- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.



- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and

resource optimization as required.



- Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.



- Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.



- Backup and Disaster Recovery:



- Develop a backup strategy and submit plan for government

approval.



- Perform regular backups of network files and as required,

restoration of files.



- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file

systems and system data are successfully backed up to the

appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and

media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.



- Documentation and Reporting:



- Draft system administrator manuals and maintenance service

plans.



- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.



- Contribute to and maintain system standards.



- Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity

planning.



- Automation and Optimization:



- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated

approaches for system administration tasks.



- Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide

economies of scale.



- Collaboration and Development Support:



- Recommend system configuration solutions and provide support and

suggestions to a development team.



- Perform computer operations functions, including planning,

integration, and verification for IT systems.



Requirements:



- Experience:



- 8 years’ experience needed.



- CASP+ or CCNP Security or CCSP.



- Minimum of 20 hours annually/required to maintain certificates.



- Extensive scripting experience is required.



- Experience with PowerShell is required; Script Monkey, Linux,

PowerBI experience strongly preferred.



- Solid Administrator skills with knowledge of MECM, VDI, and

Windows (with Active Directory experience).



- Technical Proficiency:



- Proficiency in maintaining Microsoft SCCM and Microsoft SCOM

Enterprise Management System.



- Ability to manage UNIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows, VMware, and

other virtualized operating systems.



- Knowledge of operating systems, patching, and upgrades.



- Familiarity with hardware, peripherals, services, settings,

directories, and storage configuration.



- Understanding of GIS infrastructure applications or Asset

Management applications.



- DOD/Government Specific:



- Understanding of Information Assurance (IA) requirements of all

systems.



- Must be a U.S. Citizen.



- Abilities and Soft Skills:



- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.



- Capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner.



- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.



- Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision.



- Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than

reactive by nature.



- Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express

concepts, plans, and proposals.



- Proficiency in typing and reading from a computer screen.



Physical Requirements:



- Extended periods of sitting or standing may be required.



- Sufficient mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling,

necessary to complete daily duties promptly and efficiently.



- Ability to lift up to thirty pounds, as necessary.



Education:



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information

Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer

Engineering, or a degree in Mathematics or Engineering
