The Senior Systems Engineer (GCP) designs, builds, and supports enterprise technical infrastructure with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform. This role documents current-state architecture, defines ideal-state cloud architecture, and develops plans and solutions that ensure stability, scalability, and alignment with emerging business needs.
Responsibilities and DutiesSupport the collection of business and technical requirements through interviews, document analysis, and workflow evaluation.
Recommend GCP-focused technical enhancements to improve the quality, performance, and security of applications and supporting infrastructure.
Document “as-is” and “to-be” architectures and outline the changes required to move to GCP-supported capabilities.
Communicate local action plans and align them to organizational strategy; motivate team members to meet business goals.
Provide guidance, training, and assistance to users or teams to resolve complex cloud or infrastructure questions.
Manage personal objectives and support performance assessments for junior team members.
Design and select storage, compute, network, and cloud environments—primarily on Google Cloud Platform—according to best practices.
Deliver cloud and digital solution architecture services, including conceptual and logical architecture diagrams based on GCP standards.
Stay current with evolving cloud technologies and contribute to assessing their business impact.
Contribute to feasibility studies and document technical findings for GCP-related initiatives.
Implement required security measures within GCP (IAM, firewalls, encryption) and monitor for performance or security issues.
Develop technical capabilities through formal and informal training, certifications (e.g., GCP ACE/PCA), and ongoing learning.
Provide fault isolation and resolution for complex cloud and infrastructure issues.
Support organizational knowledge management by sharing cloud procedures, documentation, and best practices.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across infrastructure and cloud operations.
SkillsRequiredStrong experience managing and troubleshooting infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and monitoring.
Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems using prescribed solution options.
Experience reviewing requirements, evaluating recommendations, and developing appropriate technical plans.
Ability to design, execute, and document systems/service tests.
Proficient in configuring and managing operating systems (Linux/Windows) across on-prem and cloud environments.
Ensures security, integrity, compliance, and continuity across systems and cloud services.
Proficient with a wide range of IT hardware, software, and network systems.
Able to shift thinking and adapt to evolving cloud and infrastructure scenarios.
Understands, deploys, and manages cloud-based infrastructure, especially GCP resources.
Conducts gap analyses and contributes to change strategies and implementation planning.
Understands business context and documents current and future states of technical and process architectures.
Analyzes trends and compiles data to support decision-making.
