The US base salary range for this full-time position is provided below:
Senior: $243,750-$373,750
The range represents the amount bnsf | tech reasonably expects to pay for the position based on the level, scope, and responsibilities of the role. Individual compensation and level of position offered is determined by the hiring location and additional factors including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities
This is a full-stack infrastructure engineering role, focused on building and operating platform services such as messaging systems, API gateways, data platforms, and serverless runtimesDevelop APIs, automation, and developer-facing tooling to improve platform usability and integrationBuild and maintain observability, monitoring, and alerting systems for platform servicesCollaborate with internal application teams to ensure platform reliability, performance, and ease of useHelp design and run systems that scale across data centers, edge devices, and cloud environments
Basic Qualifications
Experience with developing and operating PaaS technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, API gateways, SQL/NoSQL/Graph databases, caching systems, and serverless platformsProficiency in Go and PythonFamiliarity with frameworks like React, Angular, Node.js, Spring BootExperience with container-based development and Kubernetes operator patternExperience with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and DevOps practicesInterest in open-source platform and infrastructure technologiesFamiliarity with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)Experience with secure coding practices and platform security principlesFamiliarity with secrets management and identity and access controlAbility to work in cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholdersExperience participating in design reviews, incident retrospectives, or RFC processesDemonstrated ability to learn new technical concepts and to adapt to new technologies quicklyStrong communication and collaboration skills
Senior Level:
10+ years of experience designing, building, and scaling production PaaS systemsExtensive experience with infrastructure architecture and mentorship of junior/mid-level engineers
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent experienceEngineering experience with a public PaaS or cloud provider (AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions, Azure Functions, etc.)Experience developing and operating PaaS systems in Production such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Neo4j, or API gatewaysExperience with serverless runtimes and event-driven architecturesFamiliarity with developer tooling as a builder and/or userInterest in sustainable infrastructure and cost/resource awarenessExperience with single-pane-of-glass management platforms or control planes for distributed systems
