The Controller’s Group at Citizens Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to join the Commercial Payment Reconciliation Team. This role is responsible for performing and reviewing general ledger account reconciliations across a variety of financial functions, including cash, accruals, suspense, foreign currency, intercompany accounts, and transaction processing systems.

As a key part of the bank’s internal control framework, this position partners closely with internal stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and policy-compliant reconciliations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles, a critical eye for documentation, and a collaborative mindset to support financial integrity and operational excellence.

Primary responsibilities include

Prepare and maintain general ledger account reconciliations for various financial accounts.Review and validate supporting documentation from business lines, providing effective challenge when necessary.Coordinate workflow, ensure deadlines are met, and assist manager with departmental oversight.Ensure all reconciliations comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal bank policies.Support the preparation of schedules and documentation for financial reporting and external audits.Collaborate with business units to resolve reconciliation-related issues and provide training or guidance as needed.Perform analytical or more technically difficult projects as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.2+ years of experience in accounting, reconciliation, or financial operations (banking experience preferred).Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control principles.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with general ledger systems.Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Hours per Week: 40Work Schedule: M-F
