Sr Specialist, Health Economics Reimbursement

This is a great opportunity to join a Global Health Economics & Reimbursement (GHER) team that is playing a key role in the success of our Transcatheter Mitral and Tricuspid Therapies (TMTT) business at Edwards Lifesciences. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of U.S. reimbursement systems, and the ability to translate complex policy topics into clear, actionable materials. This position is based at the corporate headquarters in Irvine, California. 

How you will make an impact: 

Monitor US reimbursement policy changes, coding updates, and payment trends that may impact market access for TMTT technologies.  

Contribute to the development of market access (coding, coverage, payment) collateral that enhances patient access to TMTT therapies.  

Support field teams with reimbursement insights, training, and resources to address customer questions related to coverage, coding, and payment.  

Support internal and external stakeholders while leveraging knowledge gained through direct interactions and relationships, in order to provide relevant input to coverage and payment conversations.  

Contribute to efforts to educate cross-functional partners in sales, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and legal teams to increase awareness and understanding of health economics and reimbursement topics.  

Establish detailed understanding and ability to navigate payers’ (e.g., central Medicare, Medicare contractors, and private insurers) coverage and payment processes including ongoing monitoring of commercial policies.  

Monitor changes in the external environment (health policy and regulatory) and advise senior leadership on threats and opportunities with suggested action plans.

What you will need (required): 

The successful candidate will develop synergies across the organization and foster strong internal and external relationships to achieve market access goals and objectives. Critical skills and experience for this position include: 

Bachelor's Degree in a life science, health economics, health policy, or related field, 5 years experience of related experience or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria Required 

Other: in MBA or MPH or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria preferred 

 

What else we look for (preferred): 

Master’s degree in a life science, health economics, healthcare finance, health policy, public policy, or related field preferred. 

Previous experience in, or strong working knowledge of, medical device industry; clinical trial knowledge or experience is preferred and a strong plus. 

Substantial understanding of key public and private payer policy infrastructure, medical device payment methodologies, coding and coverage basics, and/or health policy trends. 

Experience working with external stakeholders and customers (e.g., vendors, payers, hospitals, physicians, etc.), as well as internal cross-functional teams and business units. 

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially presentation development. 

Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills 

Exceptional project management skills. 

Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment. 

Strong business acumen, analytical skills and experience working with various internal business partners (especially Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, and Government Affairs staff) to provide insight into key market access issues. 

Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

Self-motivated and able to advance projects with limited supervision, yet capable of taking direction and being a willing collaborator with other team members. 

Domestic travel up to 10%.

For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $108,000 to $153,000 (highly experienced).
