Sr Solution Architect

The Sr Functional Architect is responsible for progressing business requirements from needs, to a conceptual and logical design for implementation readiness in partnership with technical architects. The ability to build and foster strong relationships with both business partners and technical colleagues will be crucial to success, as this role will be expected to present ideas to multiple stakeholders and gain consensus.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs, objectives, and constraints.Analyze current systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and propose scalable solutions.Design and implement robust, high-quality architectural solutions that meet business requirements and align with the company’s technical strategy.Ensure solutions are consistent with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.Lead the development of architectural frameworks, patterns, and standards to promote consistency across the organization.Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.Conduct technical evaluations and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to improve productivity and efficiency.Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for architectural designs and solutions.Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and maintainable by conducting regular reviews and assessments.Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units, facilitating clear communication and understanding.Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, and incorporate relevant advancements into the organization’s architecture.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Typically, 10+ years experience as a Solution Architect or similar role, with a strong background in designing and implementing technical solutions.Extensive knowledge of enterprise architecture, system integration, and software development methodologies.Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and related services.Strong understanding of security, scalability, and performance considerations in solution design.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive consensus among stakeholders.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Experience with Agile and DevOps practicesRelevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)

Key Responsibilities:

Provide expert-level guidance and leadership on technology strategy and architecture​

Collaborate with executive stakeholders to align technology solutions with overall business objectives and goals​

Perform business and technical requirements​

Work well with complex solutions and uncertain or changing requirements​

Ensure the bridge between business needs and technical requirements is obtained so that a logical design can be created​

Effectively manage relationships with end-users, senior management, and within IT in a matrixed-resource environment​

Support pre-project design planning activities, as well as ensure a complete conceptual and logical design is produced for implementation during project execution

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field ​

Minimum 10+ years progressive experience in business systems analysis, IT project management or development, or functional architect role​​

Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills​

Strong leadership, communication, organization, and collaboration skills​

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment​

Demonstrated experience in business architecture, specifically in designing and implementing an integrated platform from a functional or technical perspective​

Deep understanding and experience across multiple technical domains​

Business Analysis or related certification, such as PMI-PBA, CCBA, or BRMP​

Experience creating logical and process flow diagrams

Qualifications We Prefer:

Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)

Experience with a modeling tool such as Abacus​

Basic project management understanding – both waterfall and agile​

Experience performing change management (OCM)​

Previous technical experience, such as in a development or infrastructure related role​
