Support Center - Irving

Michaels Software Engineers will develop technologies that change how our customers connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a Sr Software Engineer, you will contribute to projects critical to Michaels needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve.

Major Activities

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve softwareImprove system quality by identifying issues, common patterns and developing standard operating proceduresEnhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, make recommendations and design and implement systemsMaintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changesManage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverablesMentor and advise teammatesWork with teams to select, test, and implement new technical designsInvestigate and use new technologies where relevantWrite clean, maintainable, and efficient codeParticipate in code reviews and lead team discussionsDebug and troubleshoot escalated software issuesRecommend emerging technologies and industry trends to pursue

Minimum Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

Worked with large scale web traffic and data with strong foundation in Data Structures, Algorithms, Linear Algebra.Advanced experience in Java, Python, C,  C++, MongoDB, MySQL, and/or other major programming languagesExperience in building search systems such as Elastic, SORL, Lucene, AlgoliaBuilding large-scale data pipelinesExpertise with cloud services, such as AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft AzureExperience in machine learning/computer vision/natural language processing application

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

5+ years of software engineering experience

Preferred Education

Masters Degree or higher in Computer Science
