Our Product Specialist III, Safety and Production is responsible for the sale of safety products and services to customers engaged primarily in production, manufacturing and research laboratories at Merck Pharmaceuticals in PA, NJ and DE. Product Specialist III will maintain effective customer relationships, develop opportunities for growth within an existing customer base, and will assure market penetration and profitability while achieving sales and profit forecasts. Key responsibilities will be:

Support multiple research sales representatives on the Merck team, by providing information specific to safety, including technical information, product recommendations for customer applications, and other safety supportDevelop and maintain effective customer relations with all customers and potential customers in the assigned territory. Seek out broader relationships within the account to help facilitate networking and prospectingDevelop and implement sales strategies and plans to expand business within assigned territory; maintain a pipeline of opportunities to meet or exceed sales objectivesImplement customer specific action plans, working with purchasing and management to perform hazard assessments, making product recommendations, providing product training with regard to occupational health and safety equipmentResearch competitor and industry activity and keep informed of new products/services and Introduce new products and servicesHandle pricing within territory to control profitability, along with maintaining accurate reporting, records, and files needed for proper management of territoryAdvise supervisor of any customer issues or potential problems; perform other tasks assigned by managerDiscuss with customers supply and price trends and assist in inventory control, consults with customersPositively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times throughout customer locations and demonstrates the Thermo Fisher values (The Four I’s) – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement

Keys to Success:

Education

Bachelor’s degree preferably with a technical degree in safety, EH&S, QA, environmental science or science

Experience

5+ years of sales experience, preferably in safety products or controlled environment products, or industry equivalentPrior sales experience is required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of safety and cleanroom standards is an assetStrong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skillsSolid understanding of CRM systems such as SalesForce.comMust possess the organizational skills to multi-task and meet metricsStrong industry, pharmaceutical and science background preferredAble and willing to travel to customer locations
