Short Description

Risk Identification and Evaluation

     Responsible for risk management activities, including:

 Incident identification, loss prevention and evaluation of risks associated with potentially compensable events and near misses.

Provides consultation for staff and physicians regarding guardianships, advanced directives and documents advising management of potential and actual issues.

Provides staff with consultative information resources; collaborates on patient and family issues which may be perceived as potential liability claims

Bioethics

Provides support for bioethical consultations including initial screening of bioethics consult requests.  Coordinates bioethics meeting agendas, physician consultant support and review of associated policies.

Insurance Program

Coordinates the insurance program including completion of annual renewal applications, special event insurance coordination for the health systemCoordinates requests / policy clarifications with the insurance broker and third-party administrators
Coordinates and manages all property damage claims and automobile liability events including investigation, negotiation and coordinating settlement plans with active communication with insurance carriers, adjustors and claims specialists.Monitors and maintains all required Certificate of Insurance documents by contracted service and health system assets.Determines insurance coverage, coverage responsibilities in complex matters involving subrogation or safety claims.Manages and monitors fleet vehicle safety program including assessment of driving record status prior to issuing driver privileges, driver eligibility, MVR checks.Coordinates and ensures timely payment of all insurance payments and vouchers.Notifies claims manager and insurance carriers of actual and potential claimsMaintains insurance coverage information, providing insurance information, and responding to insurance coverage requests. Experience Required

Minimum 7 years in a Healthcare Risk Management environment. 

Education Requirements

Associate degree Required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Special Requirements

Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel.

Data analysis and presentation, use of statistical graphing programs.

Advanced user ofExcel, Access, Word and graphic analytics.

Proficient in Database management and report-writing skills; trend analysis;

Ability to react under pressure and respond quickly and appropriately.
