Amazon.com
About the Role
Ready to work at the intersection of content policy, risk operations, and AI innovation? Amazon's Books Risk and Policy team is looking for a Sr. Program Manager who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments and wants to help shape how AI-powered risk tools come to life. If you're energized by meaningful problems, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to protect the integrity of content that reaches millions of readers, this role is for you.
In Books, authors are at the heart of what we do. It is that simple. We offer a team environment that thrives on innovation and excellence, and our staff is talented and passionate about creating an exceptional customer experience. Our team works backwards from customers, solves problems, prevents risk, and is at the forefront of innovation.
As a Sr. Program Manager on the Books Risk and Policy team, you will lead launch readiness efforts for Policy and large language model (LLM) initiatives that directly support Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) risk operations. You will transform complex initiatives into clear, actionable documentation that guides teams through high-stakes launches and changes. You will architect digestible and scalable processes that mitigate risk while flexing across the broader risk vertical as business needs evolve.
This role sits within the Training, Launch, Content (TLC) organization and works at the crossroads of policy, technology, and operations. You will partner closely with Product Managers, Policy SMEs, Science, ML engineers, automation teams, and Ops workflow leads to translate complex technical and policy requirements into clear, operational guidance. Your sharp business acumen will drive quick decisions in ambiguous situations, while your data-driven approach ensures content and process effectiveness through metrics and direct feedback.
Key Job Responsibilities

Apply generative AI tools to accelerate project management tasks such as project plans, timelines, and analyses while maintaining accountability for accuracy and relevance
Contribute to LLM governance and human-in-the-loop (HiTL) process design
Identify opportunities to integrate AI tools into project workflows to reduce manual effort and increase delivery speed
Collaborate with technical teams and AI specialists to define requirements when implementing AI-enabled solutions
Use AI tools to summarize complex information (stakeholder feedback, documentation, metrics) and translate insights into actionable next steps
Partner with ML engineers and technical program teams to translate complex model and policy requirements into clear operational guidance
Process & Risk Management
Develop and maintain process frameworks that support risk enforcement and content integrity operations
Create defect reduction and risk mitigation strategies
Develop and execute strategies to improve content and process accuracy, quality, and usability
Flex across the risk vertical as business needs evolve
Data-Driven Decision Making & Stakeholder Management
Use data analysis to make content and process decisions across the programs you own
Build relationships with cross-functional stakeholders
Communicate effectively across all organizational levels
Simplify complexity, juggle competing priorities, and deliver compelling updates that keep stakeholders aligned
A Day in the Life
Your day might start with a review of a launch readiness checklist for an upcoming LLM policy update, followed by a cross-functional sync with Product Managers, ML engineers and ops leads to align on rollout timelines. In the afternoon, you might draft or refine an SOP for a new enforcement process using AI tools to accelerate documentation, then close out by pulling metrics to assess the impact of a recently launched program. No two days look exactly the same — but every day, you will see the direct connection between your work and the integrity of the Amazon Books store.
