The L2 Linux Engineer is responsible for administering and supporting Linux servers, ensuring their optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, implementing system enhancements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain a robust Linux infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:

System Administration: Manage and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, Ubuntu), including installation, configuration, and regular updates to ensure system stability and security.

Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning adjustments to enhance efficiency and resource utilization.

Security Management: Apply security patches, configure firewalls, and implement best practices to protect systems from vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.

Troubleshooting and Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve incidents promptly.

Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or other scripting languages to streamline administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.

Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage backup solutions, perform regular data backups, and ensure effective disaster recovery procedures are in place.

Collaboration: Work closely with development, network, and security teams to support application deployments, system integrations, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience: Typically 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration, with a strong focus on RHEL and Ubuntu environments.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in managing RHEL and Ubuntu systems, including package management, user administration, and system monitoring.
Solid understanding of networking concepts, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP protocols.
Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
Familiarity with virtualization technologies and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of security best practices and experience with firewall configurations.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) are a plus.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
