Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2 databases for enterprise applications.Perform database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and security management.Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and resource allocation.Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) solutions to ensure business continuity.Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and queries.Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and company policies.Automate repetitive database tasks using scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell, Shell scripting, etc.).Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including outages, slow queries, and connectivity problems.Conduct capacity planning and database scaling strategies to accommodate business growth.Implement and maintain high availability solutions such as clustering, mirroring, replication, and Always On Availability Groups.Keep up to date with emerging database technologies and recommend improvements.Document database architectures, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.8+ years of experience in database administration with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2.Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Always On, clustering, log shipping, mirroring, etc.).Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, and shell scripting for automation.Hands-on experience with database security best practices (encryption, access control, auditing, etc.).Strong troubleshooting skills for database-related issues in production environments.Experience with ETL processes, SSIS, and data migration between platforms.Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, IBM Cloud) is a plus.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
