If so, we are looking for an enthusiastic, driven, and forward-thinking Senior Engineering Manager to join us on our mission.

How will you make an impact in this role?

Collaboration with key business partners to help drive the strategic vision, technical design, development, and delivery of strategic roadmaps and prioritized initiatives such as Acquirer Platform Transformation (Amex Offers, Merchant Onboarding, Pricing, Servicing, etc..) and Merchant Acquirer Technology Platforms to ensure they met the evolving needs of American Express and its merchants. Driving key architectural decisions and design considerations to ensure system scalability and resiliency for transformation and modernization initiatives. Accountability for delivery, quality, and operational metrics of a portfolio, including system performance, platform availability, operational efficiency, risk management, information security, data management as well as cost efficiency. Leading a team of successful, forward-thinking, creative, multi-functional Engineering Leaders to enable delivery. Building a culture of innovation, and development across teams, delivering dynamic software solutions, and inspiring change.

Outcomes:

Ongoing evolution of Amex merchant platforms to be innovative, adopting emerging technologies using modernized distributed architecture. Continual evolution of the roadmap and strategy. Heavily influence the success of the team’s goals and build a high-performing team. Consistent delivery of business value and return on investment. Strong performance on portfolio metrics, including High Availability, resiliency, performance and cost. Improve productivity, quality, and delivery velocity by introducing DevOps culture and support solutions that enable continuous integration/delivery to bring the reduction in cycle time.

Responsibilities:

Hands-on engineer with expertise in developing complex, large-scale enterprise applications. Responsible for technical aspects of software engineering for assigned applications including design, developing prototypes, and coding assignments. Partners with customers and other internal teams and technical product managers to deliver improvements to the platform. Establish and accepts responsibility for engineering practices across teams for example the code review, build and release process and the effectiveness of the retrospective. Empower teams to automate demand driven scalable application deployments in test or production environments. Apply specialized knowledge of industry standards or practices to assigned initiatives to identify complex and or broad problems and issues and formulate recommendations. Collaborate across leadership teams to define solutions, technical implementation to drive software maturity and practices. Drive the team’s technical improvements and roadmap. Nurture an environment of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics.

 Minimum Qualifications: 

Degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field. 2+ years leadership experience in a complex technical environment and/or comparable experience Minimum 10 years of proven experience using Java, React, Vert.x, Spring, Spark, Postgres, Ignite, Restful APIs, Redis, Kafka. Hands-on experience building and delivering large scale enterprise systems/products. Experience attracting, hiring and retaining top engineering talent. Experience leading engineering teams and in agile methodologies, have enabled DevOps mindset, processes and tools Experience building highly available and low latency distributed systems. Experience building systems as service-oriented architecture and/or micro-services architecture Significant hands-on experience in application architecture / design, software development, and testing, preferably in an Agile environment within a professional environment. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Create and deliver effective presentations to Senior Leadership.

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
