Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the launch and operation of AWS Services in a new region, working closely with global AWS teams, and influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology. A typical day in this role involves collaborating with technology leaders, contributing to the enhancement of day-to-day operations, and ensuring improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency. As a leader, you will manage teams in both systems operations and development, emphasizing automation and engineering efficiency.

This role is focused on the delivery of confidential capability for a closed list of customers based in Australia. You will be responsible for the health of a set of systems, and the careers of the system engineers and managers that work on them. You will assign business and technical requirements across engineers and managers for implementation, and ensure that the requirements are met in a way that continues to improve the quality of the systems they are responsible for. You will focus upon operations and guiding development towards solving operational friction points, ensuring these improvements are prioritised and delivered.
You will own your own roadmap, and make decisions on timing, prioritization and scheduling, and responsible for the “the When and the Who.”


Key job responsibilities
- Lead direct individual contributors and manager across your teams in executing organizational and team roadmaps, focusing on launch goals. Regular check-ins and strategic guidance foster collaboration and shared success.
- Analyse systems and software performance, identifying areas for improvement and shape strategies to enhance overall efficiency.
- Cross-departmental collaboration is key, you will strengthen relationships with other teams, streamlining processes for optimal functioning.
- Building coaching and mentoring teams to ensure a skilled and successful workforce.
- Regularly review key performance metrics, to ensure the team's efforts align with overarching business objectives, fostering a results-driven environment.
- Identifying successes and areas for improvement, ensuring your teams are well-prepared for launch challenges and opportunities.
- This position involves On-call responsibility, you will be required to drive escalation calls.
