Location/Division Specific Information

Reporting to the Plainville, MA site and supporting the Viral Vector Services (VVS), a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. At VVS, we deliver from process development through commercial supply, offering the expertise and resources vital to help clients deliver innovative gene therapies. We are placed at the forefront of our leading and groundbreaking Cell and Gene Therapy business, enabling clients to cure genetic, rare, and otherwise untreatable diseases.

As a Senior Manager of Formulation Manufacturing at our organization, you'll guide teams responsible for delivering critical pharmaceutical and diagnostic products that help improve health outcomes. You'll oversee daily operations while ensuring compliance with cGMP standards and supporting operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives. Working with cross-functional partners, you'll enhance manufacturing processes, develop staff capabilities, and implement effective solutions to meet growing customer demands.

A Day in the Life:

Combine technical expertise with people management to deliver exceptional product quality while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Manage budgets, resources, and KPIs while cultivating a culture of innovation and accountability.

Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Technical Services and other stakeholders to advance manufacturing excellence.

Support our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

Keys to Success:

Education

BS Degree required. Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry or related field.

Advanced Degree highly preferred.

Additional certifications in pharmaceutical manufacturing or operational excellence preferred.

Experience

At least 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical, or biotech manufacturing in cGMP environment required with a BS degree, and 6 years accepted with an advanced degree.

5 years of management experience leading manufacturing teams required.

Demonstrated expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and regulatory compliance.

Experience implementing operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience managing budgets, resources and key performance metrics.

Experience with change management and process improvement methodologies.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to develop and support teams.

Proficiency with manufacturing systems and standard MS Office applications.

Ability to work in clean room environments and use required PPE when needed.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environment.

Effective communication skills with ability to engage at all levels of organization.

Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental standards.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $130,000.00–$194,950.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
