Main responsibilities:
The Managed Care Program Analyst/Coordinator is an individual contributor responsible for supporting Managed Care Contracting Pharmacy FP&A, the Senior Director and Directors of Managed Care in overseeing pharmacy reimbursement and profitability initiatives. This includes activities related to contracting, implementation, and operational functions of third-party prescription programs and plans administered by Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), Health Plans, and other private and public payers.
The role involves coordination with accounting and external vendors to gather data, review reports, and ensure reimbursements are aligned with contracted rates and timelines. The Program Analyst/Coordinator also assists with account management for third-party payers and business-to-business accounts to drive pharmacy sales growth and optimize margins. This position serves as a key liaison between the Managed Care Department, Third-Party Accounting, FP&A, and Legal.
Account Management Support:Monitor third-party plan payments and identify inconsistencies in collaboration with Accounting and Finance. Use tools such as SQL, Looker, Access, Excel, MicroStrategy, and Teradata to mine data and generate reports. Partner with PBM account managers and the Accounts Receivable team to resolve reimbursement discrepancies. Support Managed Care analysts in planning and analysis activities.
Contract Administration:
Assist in the financial administration of contracts, ensuring compliance with agreed-upon terms. Monitor contract performance, resolve financial disputes, respond to grievances, and address issues throughout the contract lifecycle.
Contract Profitability Optimization:
Lead financial and contract-related studies to support margin improvement initiatives. Provide financial insights into strategic changes and track results against annual operating plans. Coordinate with Third-Party Operations, Procurement, and Contracting teams to implement margin-enhancing strategies, including TP edits and operational/system improvements. Support Managed Care analysts in planning and analysis.
Managed Care Communications:
Act as a communication bridge between Managed Care, Accounting, FP&A, and other cross-functional teams. Prepare and address reports related to write-offs, reimbursement concerns, and margin opportunities. Develop and deliver timely, accurate financial reports on paid and unpaid claims, including customized reporting for senior leadership to support strategic decision-making. Communicate financial improvement opportunities to store teams and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve reimbursement issues.
Compliance and Regulatory Support:
Ensure contract and reimbursement practices comply with applicable laws and regulations. Support Accounting in maintaining compliance with state and federal plan reconciliation requirements.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
At least 5 years of pharmacy support related to Managed Care and third-party experience with major Health Plans, PBMs, MCOs, TPAs, or other third-party payers Experience with PDX or other pharmacy dispensing systems Strong understanding of Managed Care reimbursement metrics Deep understanding with NCPDP claims processing and response fields Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment Strong independent work ethic and confidentiality management Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, and Outlook Ability to analyze industry and contract trends and communicate findings effectivelyWe also provide a variety of benefits including:

The salary range is $72,100 to $93,640 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position are also eligible for a quarterly bonus.
